Group Info:
Name: New England Responsible Anglers
Description:
Other areas like the UK have a lot of information out on responsible fishing. Unfortunately a lot of us don't follow suit. This is a group to share tips and awareness on the horrible practices and the impact we have through irresponsible fishing practices on the very places we cherish. If these places are destroyed there will be nothing left for us in the way of sport fishing.
This is a group for fisherman who believe in leaving the smallest carbon footprint they can while fishing. It is for those who understand that being irresponsible and leaving behind things like food trash, beer cans, bait containers, fishing line and lead tackle has a huge impact on the environment. Old line especially high test lines can strangle wildlife like birds and turtles. You also understand that when feasible based on the type of fishing you are doing that removing the barbs off of hooks can create considerable less harm during catch and release fishing and minimize a fishes time out of water. This leads to quicker recovery of large game fish and a better likelihood of survival so that they may have a chance to grace another sport fisherman's hook. This is for those who truly love fishing right down to the treatment of these fascinating creatures.
I would like to be able to get together if their are any folks interested in cleaning up highly trafficked fishing spots. If anyone knows of any fishing spots that are covered in trash and would like to get together to pick up and dispose of trash in the area let me know. If we work together we can make our favorite spots pristine again.
